Ramen is a popular Japanese dish that is loved by many people. It is highly likely that if you were to ask anyone, regardless of their nationality or gender, what their favorite food is, they would answer with “ramen”. Ramen is usually made with wheat noodles served in a meat-based broth and comes in a variety of flavors, including shio (or “salt”), tonkotsu (or “pork bone”), shōyu (or “soy sauce”), and miso.
While you can always find common flavors of ramen noodles in the many excellent ramen shops in Nagoya, there are also many regional and local varieties that make the love of ramen a lifelong pursuit for enthusiasts. However, for those who are not familiar with where to find some of the more unusual and flavorful noodles, the Nagoya Ramen Matsuri offers the best opportunity to try out different varieties without traveling around the country.
The Nagoya Ramen Matsuri takes place over three acts and is held at Hisaya Odori Park in Sakae. This festival brings together some of the best ramen shops from around Japan and puts them all in one place for your enjoyment. Each event features ten restaurants, offering an excellent opportunity to try some phenomenal noodle dishes.
Admission to the event is free, but if you want to eat ramen from a vendor, you will need to purchase a ticket. Once you have the ticket, you can line up and order your meal.
