Mexican Food in Nagoya

Mexican cuisine has found a welcoming home in Nagoya. It is known for its rich textures, diverse ingredients, and robust flavors, which have captivated food enthusiasts worldwide. At its core, Mexican food is an homage to traditional ingredients and cooking techniques that have been passed down through generations, combined with a dynamic and ever-evolving culinary landscape. If you are craving Mexican food in Nagoya, you have several options available to try out.

Desperados, Shinsakae

Desperados is considered the best Mexican restaurant in Nagoya, although some claim it is actually the best United States-style Mexican restaurant in Nagoya. I’m not entirely sure which is true, but I do know that everyone seems to love this place. The selection of tequila alone is enough reason to visit, with multiple varieties of “sipping tequila” available. A couple owns the restaurant: Rudy, born in Mexico and raised in the US, and Takako, who is Japanese but speaks excellent English. They are both very cool, and you can ask if they have any hot sauce for sale behind the bar, as they often do!

Sayulita Tacos & Craft beer

Sayulita is a restaurant that serves authentic Mexican food prepared by Mexican Chef Omar. This restaurant was a popular food truck in and around Nagoya for several years. The longest line at the location always waited to try their amazing food. Personally, I love this spot, and Omar is a great guy. He makes one of the best habanero hot sauces I have ever tasted. I highly recommend it.

List of Mexican Restruants in Japan

This is a list of Mexican restruants here in Japan. I noted some issues with it, such as listing Jerrys Uno and Mexigan as Mexican food providers, but the other options for Nagoya on there are solid, minus Los Novios which unfortunatly closed. Have a scroll, find some options. If you happen to eat somewhere with tamales let me know immediately. I need tamales in my life.
