It’s been a long time since I was able to even consider this question, because frankly until this year the coffee in Nagoya sucked. Originally from Seattle, Washington (USA) I am an admitted coffee snob who would normally not be caught dead at a Starbucks, but nonetheless, I have spent a great deal of time in SB in Nagoya anyway. To be fair, SB has great staff, great locations, and reasonably comfortable amenities, but their coffee is simply not very good. The drip is pretty reasonable, but when I say “coffee,” I mean espresso, usually a macchiato.
This article is an evolving process that will start with simply pointing the new and FINALLY entirely reasonable options for coffee in Nagoya. Going forward, we can have a bit of fun with it. For example, answering the questions “What Makes A Coffee Shop Great?” and “What makes great coffee?” Perhaps if I get highly motivated we can find a voting tool to allow some public input for a “people’s choice” award type thing.
